The Chairman of the Bloor West Village Residents Association, has stepped down from the post to run for Toronto City Council in Ward 13.
Greg Hamara made the announcement to the BWVRA Executive August 23rd.
Hamara was one of the founding members of the BWVRA and has long been active in the Village community.
Communications Officer Steve McNally will take over as acting BWVRA Chair, pending the outcome of the municipal election.
“Greg has been a driving force within the BWVRA and he’ll certainly be missed,” said McNally, “The Association has prided itself for being non partisan and we will continue to be so. We’ll ask all the candidates to come and debate the issues with our members to help them make an informed decision.”
Hamara will challenge incumbent Bill Saundercook for the four year term as Councillor. A third candidate, Frances Wdowczyk, has also registered to run in Ward 13 for the vote Monday, November 13th.
